The following form for Midday Prayer is found in the 2010 Book of Common Prayer. It provides a brief way to take time out in the midst of the day for prayer and reflection.
INVOCATION
+ In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
RESPONSORY
O Lord, teach us your ways,
That we may walk in your truth.
You comfort and help us day by day.
We trust in your loving care.
You are the king of the heavens and the earth.
To you we lift up thanks and praise. (Alleluia!)
OPENING PRAYER
The Collect of the Day may replace this prayer at any time.
Sunday:
Lord Jesus Christ, you said to your apostles, “Peace I give to you; my peace I leave with you.” Regard not our sins, but the faith of your Church, and give to us the peace and unity of that heavenly city, where with the Father and the Holy Spirit you live and reign, now and forever. Amen.
Monday:
God of mercy and compassion, this midday moment of reflection and rest is your welcome gift. Bless the work we have begun, make good its defects, and let it finish in a way that pleases you. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Tuesday:
Almighty Savior, you called your servant Paul at mid-day, and sent him as an apostle to the Gentiles. Illumine the world, we pray, with the radiance of your glory, that all nations may come and worship you; for you are ever one with the Father and the Holy Spirit, and to you is justly due all glory and honor, now and forever. Amen.
Wednesday:
Father of mercies, you revealed to Peter in a three-fold vision your bondless love and compassion. Forgive our unbelief, enlarge our hearts, and enkindle our zeal. Grant that we may fervently desire the salvation of all, and, with ready diligence, grant that we may faithfully labor in the extension of thy kingdom; for the sake of the one who gave himself for the life of the world, your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
Thursday:
Heavenly Father, send your Holy Spirit into our hearts, to direct and rule us according to your will, to comfort us in all our afflictions, to defend us from all error, and to lead us into all truth. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Friday:
Blessed Savior, at this hour you hung upon the cross, stretching out your loving arms. Grant that all the peoples of the earth may look to you and be saved; for your tender mercies’ sake. Amen.
Saturday:
Lord God, Ruler of all, we pray you to guide and rule our hearts and bodies in the doing of your commandments, that through your great power both now and ever we may be kept safe in body and soul, through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

INTERCESSIONS AND PRAYERS
O Lord, hear my prayer.
Give ear, O Lord, to my plea.
Those gathered may offer their intercessory prayers and thanksgivings.
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
Let your kingdom come.
Let your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial,
and deliver us from the evil one.
Lord’s Prayer – Traditional Language Alternative:
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
CONCLUDING PRAYER
We thank you, heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, for accompanying us on the journey as we pass through this day. Keep from us today every temptation to sin, and inspire us to faithfully labor in the vineyard until, at the setting of the sun, we come to you for rest. Into your hands we commend ourselves: body and soul and all things. Let your holy angels be with us, that the wicked foe may have no power over us. Amen.
BENEDICTION
+ Blessing, honor, thanksgiving, and praise,
more than we can utter or understand,
be to you, O holy and glorious Trinity,
from all angels, all peoples, and all creatures,
and may your grace and your blessing descend upon us
guarding us and defending us forever. Amen.
