Welcome

Bishop Chuck 1

On behalf of your Christian brothers and sisters, welcome to the homepage of the Reformed Evangelical Synod of America.

Our calling is to live out the mandate of our Lord known as the Great Commission to make disciples of all the nations. It is our conviction that we serve the Risen Lord; the One who empowers His people to spread His worship and glory across the nations and through the generations among those who consider themselves classically evangelical, reformed, and vitally connected to the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church.

We welcome you to join us on the journey.

MorningPrayerCallThe following form for Morning Prayer is found in the 2010 Book of Common Prayer. It provides a brief way to begin the day with prayer and reflection.

INVOCATION

+ In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

RESPONSORY

O Lord, open our lips.
And we will proclaim your praise.

Each day, O Lord, is a gift of your grace.
Your mercies are new every morning.

Guide our steps by the light of your Word.
Shield us from harm and keep us from evil. (Alleluia!)

OPENING PRAYER

The Collect of the Day may replace this prayer at any time.

Sunday:
Gracious Father, you fill our hearts with joy as we celebrate the weekly remembrance of the glorious resurrection of our Son. Grant us today such blessings through our worship that the week to come may be spent in your favor and peace. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Monday:
O God, eternal King, your light divides the day from the night and turns the shadow of death into the morning. Drive from us all wrong desires, incline our hearts to keep your law, and guide our feet into the way of peace; so that, having done your will with cheerfulness while it is day, we may, when night comes, rejoice to give you thanks. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Tuesday:
O God, you are the author of peace and the lover of concord. To know you is eternal life, and to serve you is perfect freedom. Defend us, your humble servants, in all assaults of our enemies; so that we, surely trusting in your protection, may not fear the power of any adversary. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Wednesday:
O Lord, heavenly Father, almighty and everlasting God, you have brought us safely to the beginning of this new day. Defend us with your mighty power, and grant that this day we may fall into no sin, nor run into any kind of danger; and, in all that we do, direct us towards those things which are pleasing in your sight. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Thursday:
Heavenly Father, in you we live, and move, and have our being. We humbly pray that you would guide and govern us through the power of your Holy Spirit, so that in all the cares and occupations of our life we may not forget you, but may remember that we are ever walking in your sight. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Friday:
Almighty God, your most dear Son suffered great pain before entering into your joy, and was crucified in the midst of sinners before he was exalted to glory at your right hand. Mercifully grant that we, walking in the way of the cross, may discover it to be the true way of life and peace. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Saturday:
Almighty God, after the creation of the world was complete, you rested from all your works and sanctified a day of rest for all your creatures. Grant that we, putting aside all earthly anxieties, may be duly prepared for the service of your sanctuary, and may our rest here on earth be a preparation for and a foretaste of the eternal rest you have promised to your people at the end of the age. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

INTERCESSIONS AND PRAYERS

O Lord, hear my prayer.
Give ear, O Lord, to my plea.

Those gathered may offer their intercessory prayers and thanksgivings.

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
Let your kingdom come.
Let your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial,
and deliver us from the evil one.

Lord’s Prayer – Traditional Language Alternative:
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

CONCLUDING PRAYER

We thank you, heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, for keeping us from all harm and danger in the night that has passed. Keep from us today every evil, so that all our doings and every aspect of our life may be pleasing to you. Into your hands we commend ourselves: body and soul and all things. Let your holy angels be with us, that the wicked foe may have no power over us. Amen.

BENEDICTION

+ May the love of the Lord Jesus draw us to himself.
May the power of the Lord Jesus make us strong to do his will.
May the peace of the Lord Jesus fill our lives. Amen.
